When uncertainty and danger abounds, Fallstreak takes refuge in paranoia. He didn't before, but it comes a lot easier now.

He's therefore careful to find ownerless quarters other than his own where he can check his weapons - all of his weapons. Inbuilt lasers, energon knife... and finally his plasma rifle, just to be certain. His attention wanders to nowhere every few seconds, so despite the familiarity of the task, it takes longer than it should. If the room around him was full of fog, he couldn't be more oblivious to anyone coming down the hall.

When he's done with the weapons he'll move on to rummaging through the room's drawers for treats. Followed by every other unoccupied room in the hallway. Small-scale looting is bound to make him feel better.

Lumen's taking a little time to explore, now that he's been here for more than a day his inherent need to scope out the territory is coming to the fore. From the sounds in the room up ahead it sounds like someone else has the same idea.

The old soldier pauses in the doorway and looks into the room, seeing that pale jet guy... what was his name? Anyway.

"Find anything good?"

The Decepticon jerks away from the noise, inadvertently slamming the current drawer almost shut on his hand. He winces at himself and pulls it back, rubbing the stung gauntlet as he turns to face Lumen properly.

He smiles very slightly by way of greeting, automatically listing to himself what he can remember about this Autobot. "Not yet," he answers. He glances around the room and adds lightly, "But we're well-stocked with knick-knacks if, you know, we suddenly need them."

"Wow... this stuff is ancient." Lumen steps into the room, but then sniffs and looks around, scanning for the source of a faint but enticing scent. "Hmmm...."

"A real xenophile's field-day," Fallstreak agrees. He leans down to check the rest of the drawers, using his good hand to open and close them in between rubbing the other. He already has two or three boxes stashed in subspace.

"Do you know what any of it is?" he asks, looking back up at Lumen.

"Hmmm? The technology?" Lumen makes a bee-line for the vent in the wall and gently removes it, then reaches inside and comes up with a large white bottle that bears a picture of an Elephant. "Oh... this isn't Amarula. I can smell what this is."

"The human things, yes." Fallstreak turns on his heel and leans back against the wall to watch, a hint of daze in his optics. "What is it?"

"Yeah. I remember all this." Lumen pulls the top off the bottle and tips it back, taking a long pull, then sighs and offers it to the other mech with a grin. "Energon. Good energon."

He hesitates for a couple of beats, then takes the bottle and takes a swig. Reputation to build here, and he really would crave a drink if it's safe. "You're right, it is good... So how long were you on Earth?"

"Four or five vorns, and then a few stints afterward, though I was off and on a lot, too. My best friend has her base there. Or she did when I was... not here." Lumen frowns slightly, his cheer just a bit dented as he thinks of Sunhalo and the twins.

"Friends with the base commander - not bad!" Fallstreak attempts to grin. "Nice to have a cushy berth guaranteed for you. And Earth's supposed to be a great shore leave spot."

"Heh, no. By then we were just normal Earth citizens. Sunhalo's a civilian scientist who lives and works there. Though I have known a few of the bots that lead the Earth detachment of the military... and bribed one to take the job so I wouldn't have to." He nods that Fallstreak should have another swig and pass back the bottle.

"Well, not everyone can be the ambitious type. Advancement isn't always worth the perks... wait, actual Earth citizens? As in living under human jurisdiction?" Ugh, he'll keep his opinion off his face, but now he definitely needs that swig. Fallstreak passes the bottle back, shifting uncomfortably against the wall at another twinge from his wings.

"I'm a soldier, not a commander." Lumen shrugs and takes another long pull at the bottle, then passes it back. "And yeah. One guy I know was the senator of Omaha when I left the last time."

Then he frowns. "You okay, buddy?"

Perceptor frowned a bit, checking the contents of the hall closet against what he had listed on his datapad. He's so focused on making sure everything matches up that he doesn't see Fallstreak until he nearly runs into the mech.

"Oh my! Are you alright?"

Fallstreak stumbles back out of instinct as much as anything else, scanning the other bot and wondering how he didn't notice Perceptor there.

Which is of course a silly question, but he doesn't notice that either.

"Oh, I'm fine. Fine." He smiles faintly, but genuinely. Getting to know his new comrades is top priority, and this fellow in particular has attracted his interest. "Didn't see you there, sorry. It's Perceptor, isn't it?"

"Ah, no, I should be the one apologizing...I should have been more attentive to my surroundings..." Perceptor smiled sheepishly, nodding, "Indeed, that is my designation...Though...I do apologize, my processor was elsewhere during the introductions...I did not hear everyone else's designations..."

Even with a processor made of shrapnel, he can take a hint. "Ah, well, I know how you feel. All this... it's a lot to keep up with. I'm Fallstreak - the one who used to have a boring job, if you caught that bit."

Perceptor nods, "Indeed, it is quite the task to keep up to date on everything occurring..." Fallstreak gets a small smile, "I've often found that no matter how dull it may seem at the time, every task is important in some way..."

"Oh, important, I'll give you, but that doesn't make it fun to talk about." He waves it away and tilts his head. "Speaking of tasks, you look busy. Are you doing something?"

Perceptor smiles and is soon explaining about how he's cataloging everything that isn't energon or energon-based in the unoccupied quarters, and how he's already gotten most of one hallway catalogued, aside from one room that is unspeakably pink.

He seems to have a rapt audience in the blue flier - at least, Fallstreak nods and 'ahhhh's and focuses his attention as best he can.

"That one's so pink you can just classify the whole room as energon and leave it for somebody else to sort out," he remarks at its mention. "So have you found anything... uh, useful, yet? Or is it all human toys?"

Perceptor nods, "I have located several blank datapads that may be useful in maintaining a stable living environment, as well as several items that, I've been told, are useful for leisure and entertainment purposes..." And then he's fiddling with the datapad, pulling up a list, organized by room, and even alphabetized, of non-energon items in the wing. Perceptor is nothing, if not thorough.

Fallstreak cranes his head to look, grinning to himself for a moment as he sees the list. "I don't know what half of this stuff is. Maybe you should add in some short descriptions... just for the sake of us non-experts," he adds, giving Perceptor the best charming smile he can muster.

Perceptor nods, smiling a bit, "Might you like to assist me in that? There are several things I was not quite certain about, and as a result, I had to create a separate category for those items..."

He blinks, but then spreads his hands in a shrug. "Sure, I can try. But like I said..." He peers back at the list. "I'm not very familiar with humans."
